Can you extend the length that the Coop Light stays on after the door is closed to help chickens with laying eggs in winter?
No, our Coop Light has not been designed for this purpose. It will automatically turn off after the door is closed.
The reason that the light is not designed to stay on longer is based on the idea of mimicking natural conditions, and allowing the chickens to follow their natural instincts. This approach promotes a healthier circadian rhythm and encourages more natural behaviour.
Each chicken is born with a predestined number of eggs to lay during their lifetime. If you settle for a little less eggs during the winter months, you get to enjoy your chickens and fresh eggs for a much longer period.
