How to check if the gear stay of your Autodoor is missing or broken

The gear stay is located inside the Autodoor next to the motor. You will need to disassemble some of the Autodoor to access and view the gear stay.

Step 1 - Remove the door by unscrewing the 4 screws on the back of the door rail

You may need to take the Autodoor off the coop to do this.

Step 2 - Check the motor housing and gear stay

You should now see the motor housing and gear stay. The gear stay should look like this:

Step 3 - Check the end if not bent

Unscrew the motor screws and remove the motor housing.

Step 4 - Slide the gear stay out of the motor housing

Step 5 - Check if it is bent

Here is an example of a broken gear stay with a bent end.

Step 6 - Reassemble and check it should be fitting snugly into the motor

It should not rattle, and it will hold the motor pinion in position.
