How Often Should I Change My Chicken's Water?

Why do we recommend this?

Any body of standing water will eventually develop bacterial growth. In warm conditions, this can begin in as little as 24 hours, making temperature the key factor in how quickly water quality deteriorates.

Tips to keep water fresher for longer:

• Use the Omlet Insulated Waterer – Keeping water cooler for longer helps slow the growth of bacteria and algae.
• Consider your water source:
• Filtered water – Very clean when added, but typically lacks antibacterial agents, so bacteria may develop more quickly
• Tap water – Often contains chlorine, which can help slow any mould or algae growth, although this becomes less effective as the water warms up.
• Off-grid water sources – May naturally contain impurities that can encourage bacterial growth more rapidly.
